Weimaraners - Puppies - History

Weimaraners are considered to have taken their name from the German state of Weimar. The Weimaraner breed dates back to the early 19th century. Initially, it was meant to be a snob sporting dog. The Weimaraner is called the first cousin to the German Shorthaired Pointer. At the beginning, the Bloodhound stock and the red Schweisshund played a significant role in the development of the breed.

The Weimaraner Dog breed is a perfect example of an excellent breeding program that resulted in creating a special dog with special needs for a special owner.

Weimaraners - Puppies - Exercise

Three outings a day is definitely not sufficient for a dog like a Weimaraner. These dogs need to get plenty of exercise. Keep in mind that they are working dogs and physical activities must be an essential part of their life. The only way to keep a Weimaraner calm and content in the house is to provide it with a necessary amount of physical exercise. Some of their favorite occupations outdoors are swimming, retrieving and running. Those who saw Weimaraners in obedience trials would agree that the breed had been created for movement and grace.
Registries Weimaraners are registered with the AKC, CKC, KC (GB), UKC and other Kennel Clubs. The AKC first registered Weimaraners in 1943.
