Weimaraners do not require much maintenance. They are shorthaired dogs and their coat needs minimal grooming: only bathing and brushing. If an adult dog works in the fields and hunts, its coat should be carefully examined for the ticks that can cause infection.
Speaking about caring for a Weimaraner puppy, we mean feeding it, medical care, house training and many other important issues. Weimaraner puppies should be accustomed to grooming sessions the earlier the better. For this purpose, touching and petting of your tiny Weimaraner will be of great help. Thus, when the time of nail clipping or coat brushing comes, the puppy will not be afraid but will associate the sessions with something positive and rewarding. It is all a part of a successful puppy-owner interaction.
Choose special foods intended for growing puppies. Dry food is the best choice at this point, as the pup's teeth need something hard to bite and gnaw. Offer food to your Weimaraner puppy three times a day. If your pup does not seem hungry that often, reduce the frequency. Overfeeding is very dangerous and may lead to heart disease or provoke hip dysplasia. And remember that people food is not for dogs.
Between six and sixteen weeks of age a Weimaraner puppy should form their own immunity for diseases as the immunity given to it at birth is already lost. Shots help on the way of getting a healthy puppy.

Weimaraners Information - Weimaraners are graceful medium-sized dogs that combine aristocratic features with stamina, speed and alertness. These dogs are sometimes called "Silver Ghosts" for their elegant appearance and effortless gait. In addition, it is a devoted companion dog. The Weimaraner belongs to the sporting group of dogs. It is one of the dog breeds described as "versatile Continental hunting dogs."
The head is rather long with a moderate stop. The expression of the face is keen and intelligent. Ears are long, a little folded and set high. Gray or blue-gray eyes are set apart. The neck is long. The back set in a straight line should be strong, the chest well developed. Legs are straight and long. The tail is docked. The Weimaraner's short and smooth coat is gray. Silver gray is preferable. Weimaraners Breeders - Weimaraners are rather large sporting dogs of an aristocratic appearance.
